esidency Scandal Rocks Mount Vernon: Trump Save Mount Vernon Demands Accountability
News Article for Trump Save Mount Vernon Website:
A deepening political scandal is shaking Mount Vernon’s Democratic leadership, as newly uncovered documents and timelines reveal that Kenneth Plummer, a former District Leader, may have unlawfully held his position while residing outside the city.
According to a formal complaint filed in June 2023, Plummer primarily resided in White Plains, where he owns property with his wife and child. Despite this, he continued to serve as a Mount Vernon District Leader—a position that legally requires city residency—voting in internal party meetings, endorsing candidates, and influencing local Democratic Party decisions.
The Westchester County Board of Elections, under the oversight of Commissioner Tajian Nelson, issued a June 23, 2023, letter stating the board was “satisfied” with Plummer’s residency. However, evidence suggests the investigation was incomplete. MVPD Officer tasked with verifying Plummer’s residency, reportedly received limited instructions and was not directed to examine Plummer’s White Plains address or relevant mortgage documents.
Crucially, Plummer’s own resignation letter dated July 1, 2025, admits to owning a home in White Plains and alternating nights between there and Mount Vernon—an arrangement that fails to meet New York State Election Law § 1-104(22), which defines residency by “principal and permanent home” and “intent to return.”
While residing outside of Mount Vernon, Plummer cast votes in support of Democratic candidates and was also conducting business with the city—raising red flags over potential conflicts of interest, ethics violations, and election fraud.
Commissioner Nelson’s own entanglements further complicate the matter. As Democratic Commissioner of the Board of Elections, Secretary of the Westchester Democratic Committee, and Corresponding Secretary of the Mount Vernon Democratic City Committee, her failure to initiate a full and impartial investigation may represent a serious breach of public trust and fiduciary duty.
“Mount Vernon has suffered long enough under insider politics and backroom deals,” said a spokesperson from the Trump Save Mount Vernon coalition. “Our city deserves fair representation, honest elections, and accountability from every official—whether elected or appointed.”
The Trump Save Mount Vernon movement is now calling for a full independent investigation by state and federal authorities into potential election fraud, abuse of public trust, and systemic conflicts of interest embedded in the city’s Democratic machine.
This case is not just about one man’s residency—it’s about whether the rules apply equally, or if certain insiders are protected by party power. For too long, Mount Vernon residents have been denied transparency and integrity. That time must end now.
